Why do you want to work here?

Why they ask this

This separates people who actually want THIS job from people who need any job. Specificity is everything. Generic answers fail; researched, genuine answers win.

How to answer

Company-specific research + personal connection + role alignment.

Sample strong answer

Show you've done your research. Reference something specific.

Example: 'I've been following [company] for about two years — specifically, your approach to [specific product feature or business strategy]. The way you [specific thing] is genuinely different from how everyone else in the space is solving this problem.

What really drew me in was your recent [product launch / article / announcement]. It showed that you're thinking about this market at a level of depth most companies aren't. And from conversations with [person I know there or LinkedIn research], the team culture seems to value [specific value].

For me personally, this role is the intersection of [strength] and [interest] that I've been looking for. I want to do my best work here — and I think I'd actually be able to.'
